Trudge along Tigger

 Trudge along Tigger

I look at you in your Tigger suit

       trudging down the lane,

head down and leaning into your task.

If you but knew that the lane runs into a road

and the road into along  highway

you would have a map of your life.

It is the working, sweating and pulling gene controlled life

you came by honestly that will take

you down the lane, the road and long highway.

For generations our family trudged behind a plow

trudged through the snow delivering mail

or trudged off to school to work with students.

In your gene pool there is also running,

jumping, dancing skipping and hopping genes,

but the boss factor is that trudging gene.

Now you are in a Tigger suit

and it is time to know why

     your mother so suited you.

Soon you will read about Tigger

who has a rubber top and

      springs for legs,

He is the fast moving

      energetic and happy clown

of a person who makes life full of laughter.

Your mother knows that you will be

a faithful and responsible life trudger in

     the true family tradition .

When you see a job that needs to be done

you will just do it well

      with sweat and hard effort.

But in your Tigger suit you will have a great time

because you will have springs for legs and

and a belly laugh from your rubber top.

Notes
This picture deserves a poem and it got it. The idea of a one year old trudging along in a Tigger suit was such a contrast that I had to play with the contrast. What more can a parent ask than a child who puts his head down and strives? I love the picture and the idea. Maybe as the poem ages I can make it trudge better.
