The Magic Rabbit

 Hey, Midnight Black

      hop and skip

I did not ask you for help.

Where did you come from?

I can court without your help.

Besides, I asked the dream factory

      for lambs and llamas.

      And what do I get?

A Harvey in Tux

      with envious glances

      from voyeur eyes.

If what you see causes you a blush

I will know you are not just a dream.

For when you flap your ears to hear our whispers,

      it is to participate.

You sit there spying with great erect ears

that picks up our soft words.

Words so original that

no one has heard them before.

But when I hear them again

      as your Spring Rite

I shall know of your plagiarism.

Now you have made your point

so get on your pogo stick

       and be on your way.

Meanwhile you are getting attention

       and affection meant for me.

Who ever heard of losing out to a

      black bunny?

Notes
This one just popped out of the hat. I have no idea where the idea came from or why the flight of fancy.
