Laser Beam

Written
1993

 The laser from my heart,

       bright, searing, uncontrolled,

       intensity not calibrated,

        target powered,

         clear, pure, and deadly.

 The laser from my head,

      easily modified,

       with language, images, wisdom,

       powered by the source;

       soft, reassuring, guarded.

Dim the heart laser?

Think the searing feelings,

        soft, reassuring, guarded?

Control intensity?

Love cold as logic?

Dim the heart laser?

Only the target can.

What of the target,

       softly touched?

Reassured by a guarded beam.

Would it then be my heart laser?
